Lecture Series
The Pharos Arts Foundation Lecture Series serves as a forum
for the exchange of ideas by influential thinkers on issues ranging from
arts to philosophical and political questions.
Highlights of the Lectures Series have included: a series of art seminars,
in collaboration with Artalk Ltd, which was entitled Art on the Move:
Situating New Nomadism, Migration and Mobility within Contemporary Art, and
featured internationally established practicing artists, curators, critics,
writers and educators; lectures by Jannis Kounellis, Andrew Benjamin on
Painting in the era of digital reproducibility, Professor Richard Geldard on
Heraclitus: Ancient Mystic, Modern Guide; Baroness Cox, Deputy Speaker of
the UK House of Lords, who gave lecture on human rights issues, Professor
Victor Bulmer-Thomas, Director of the Royal Institute of International
Affairs (RIIA) in London, popularly known as Chatham House, who gave a
lecture on the Co-operation and tension in the transatlantic relationship;
Dr. John Franklin on Kinyras and the Musical Stratigraphy of Early Cyprus;
composers Yann Robin and Raphaël Cendo on The role of “saturation mode” in
modern music, and exploring ways of developing new sound in music; Professor
Pierre von Meiss on The Future Challenges for the European Architecture and
Urban Design.
