Arcadia, the imaginary place that has roused poets and artists, in which humans live in accord with Nature and which sages of ancient Greece considered an example of life, is the inspiration behind the female guitar Dúo Arcadia. Comprised by guitarists Avelina Vidal Seara and Pilar Rius Fortea, the Dúo Arcadia is committed to artistic creation and the development of new works as well as the dissemination of existing ones.
Arcadia´s repertoire ranges from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day, gathering a diversity of music styles and idioms, including neoclassical, avant-garde or experimental, and for various genres, including theatre and dance.
The Dúo Arcadia has performed in numerous internationally renowned festivals and venues, including, Sala Berlanga in Madrid (as part of the cycle “Hoy, compositoras” in 2014), Contemporary Ibero-American Music in Madrid, European Geoparks Week 2017, 2nd Stagione Musica in Bottega, Acerra Guitar Meetings (Naples), Symposium über Grete Trakl (Salzburg), Københavns guitarskole (Stockholm), Internationales Halleiner Gitarren Festival and Lange Nacht der Gitarren (Hallein), Kultur: Treff, Haus der Musik (Salzburg), Conservatoire de Saint Cloud (Paris), Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Madrid (Tribute to Carles Guinovart), Clasicarnedillo Festival (Logroño), XLI International Meeting of Compositors (Mallorca), Festival de Guitarra FestinG de Ponferrada (León).
Stimulating and diverse, the Duo’s programmes are specialised in exploring the resourcefulness hidden in the instrument of guitar, and they have received raving reviews from the audience and music-critics alike. The Dúo Arcadia has premiered, and has become the dedicatee of, a number of works by contemporary composers including Ivan Lyran, Marisa Manchado, Adina Izarra, Dimitri Cervo, Cláudio Tupinambá, Sanja Plohl, Teresa Catalán, Agustín Castilla-Ávila, Inés Badalo, amongst others. Since 2013, Pilar Rius and Avelina Vidal of the Dúo Arcadia are artistic directors of the International Ex Corde Course-Festival in Guadalajara, Mexico. In 2017, the Duo won the IMelody International Composition Contest award for its interpretation of Ivan Lyran’s work, Três Peças Brasileiras. With the same work, the Duo became finalist in the Brazil Radio MEC Festival Contest 2021, for the best unpublished composition and performer in the field of classical music. The Dúo Arcadia received the Award for Commitment by the Asociación Blanco, Negro y Magenta in Spain, for their work in supporting equality within the field of music, through their concerts, research, and pedagogical commitment.
Η Αρκαδία, ο φανταστικός τόπος που συγκίνησε ποιητές και καλλιτέχνες, στον οποίο οι άνθρωποι ζουν σύμφωνα με τη Φύση και που οι σοφοί της αρχαίας Ελλάδας θεωρούσαν υπόδειγμα ζωής, είναι η έμπνευση πίσω από το γυναικείο κιθαριστικό Dúo Arcadia. Αποτελούμενο από τις κιθαρίστριες Avelina Vidal Seara και Pilar Rius Fortea, το Dúo Arcadia είναι αφοσιωμένο στην καλλιτεχνική δημιουργία και την ανάπτυξη νέων έργων καθώς και τη διάδοση του υφιστάμενου ρεπερτορίου.
Το ρεπερτόριο του Ντούο εκτείνεται από τις αρχές του 20ου αιώνα έως τις μέρες μας, συγκεντρώνοντας ένα τεράστιο εύρος μουσικών στυλ και ιδιωμάτων, συμπεριλαμβανομένων νεοκλασικών, αβάν-γκαρντ ή πειραματικών συνθέσεων, και για διάφορες τεχνοτροπίες, όπως μουσική για θέατρο και για χορό.

Συναρπαστικά και ποικιλόμορφα, τα προγράμματα συναυλιών του Ντούο αναδιφούν την επινοητικότητα που κρύβει το όργανο της κιθάρας, και έχουν αποσπάσει διθυραμβικές κριτικές τόσο από το φιλόμουσο κοινό όσο και από τους μουσικοκριτικούς.
