Why Support Music & the Arts?

Commercial companies in Europe are increasingly aware that to invest in your community is to invest in your business. This is why they are forming mutually beneficial sponsorship relationships with arts organisations. Knowledge and culture create successful societies. The cultural sector (unlike the fast-entertainment industry) presents an exceptional opportunity to give back to the society of our island in a beneficial way. By supporting a historical private organisation like Pharos, you will contribute to the flourishing of culture, music and the arts in Cyprus and to the well-being of its people.

Commercial benefits include:
Socially responsible companies cultivate positive brand recognition, increase customer loyalty, and attract top-tier employees

  • Opportunities for enhancing a company’s brand profile and public image by being associated with world class cultural events
  • Expand your target audience by establishing authority in a niche market. It is a proven fact that classical music listeners and art lovers are customers who really value quality and trust
  • Establish credibility and increase brand awareness by demonstrating that your company values excellence and creativity, thus investing in the cultural enrichment of our society
  • The Pharos concerts, which feature some of the world’s leading soloists can truly be an entertaining and inspiring experience for your valued clients. Take advantage of offering them complimentary / discounted tickets to the concerts and other events
  • Express your gratitude to your personnel by offering them complimentary / discounted tickets as part of your employee-recognition programme

Why support the Pharos Arts Foundation?

Pharos has gained an international reputation by setting an unparalleled standard for itself. Since 1998, it has been a leading pioneer in shaping the country’s cultural infrastructure: It initiated the first ever annual chamber music festival in Cyprus (2001), the first ever annual contemporary music festival (2009) and the first all-year-round music-education programme (2006). The Pharos Arts Foundation is an independent, non-profit, charitable foundation and as such, it genuinely relies on private sponsorship for the continuation of its important programmes and activities.

Targeted sponsorship

Companies can choose to support a specific concert of particular interest. Sponsoring specific events offers is an intelligent way to reach a specific target audience or perhaps associate yourself with the promotion of the music or the arts of a country with which your company has important connections. We would love to receive your ideas!

Music Education Programme

Let your brand be the force behind tomorrow’s big changes by nurturing our youth. Pharos’ Music Education Programme includes a series of educational concerts, master-classes, workshops, and lectures, as well as a Residency programme. The aim of the programme is not to raise a society of musicians but to enhance young people’s perception and ability in prioritisation through music. Pharos has so far benefited over 75.000 students at no cost to them or to the state!

Endowment funds

Pharos accepts monetary contributions designated for the funding of a given expense or one of its specific programmes or projects. Supporters can also set up endowment funds which will benefit the Foundation in perpetuity. The income from such a fund is used to support the purpose designated by the sponsor or by the management of the Pharos Arts Foundation to cover a recurrent expense.

Support in kind

Pharos graciously accepts donations of goods and services. Most contributions of this type are for office equipment or costs associated with specific events. Sponsorship in kind offers an opportunity to advertise and increase awareness of your product in a very effective way. Contributions in kind are recognised as the equivalent of their monetary value and are acknowledged in the same fashion as other contributions.

The Pharos Arts Foundation also accepts donations of assets such as shares, bonds and property, which may be sold and reinvested in agreement with the donor for a pre-agreed funding purpose.

Examples include:

  • Provision of musical instruments or other equipment
  • Provision of video/audio/photographic services or materials
  • Provision of computer equipment
  • Provision of office equipment
  • Purchase of a work of art on a regular basis
  • Funding residencies for visiting artists, writers and composers
Frequently Asked Questions

No less than 30 events in Cyprus and abroad.

The Pharos Arts Foundation aims variety as well as quality. From intimate chamber concerts to striking orchestral concerts, from jazz music to exciting Capoeira dance shows, from visual art exhibitions to lectures, seminars and screenings of rare films and documentaries, the Pharos Arts Foundation has something to offer for every taste.

The majority of our events are held in The Shoe Factory, situated in the old part of Nicosia, near the buffer zone. The Pharos Arts Foundation aims to revitalize this beautiful and historic section of the capital city by attracting a wide and diversified audience. Concerts at The Shoe Factory are characterized by a unique feeling of intimacy: a venue situated in the ‘run down’ part of Nicosia that offers the audience the unique opportunity to sit within an amazing proximity to world famous artists and experience performances in a venue, quite frankly, like no other.

The Olive Grove in Delikipos is a world-class, open-air concert venue, which aims to deliver quality concerts in a relaxed and alternative way so that intimacy is developed between the artists and the audience. The venue is surrounded by the idyllic forest of Delikipos and is adorned with wooden decks, shallow pools of water, zen landscaping and a uniquely atmospheric lighting. The audience can relax on the chairs, blankets and pillows with a glass of wine. Our vision is to make music and art less intimidating for our audience without compromising quality and vision.

The International Pharos Chamber Music Festival is held in The Royal Manor House in Kouklia, Palaipaphos. This is one of the finest surviving monuments of Frankish architecture on the island and an unparalleled venue for intimate chamber music performances. The building also houses an archaeological museum, which records the rich history of human activity in the region from about 2800 BC to the present day. The Royal Manor House, which is part of the Cyprus Tourism Organisation’s ‘Aphrodite’s Cultural Route’, is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. Palaipaphos, or Old Paphos, was a city-kingdom of Cyprus and one of the most celebrated pilgrimage centres of the ancient Greek world. It was the site of a famous sanctuary of Aphrodite, the oldest remains of which date back to the 12th century BC.

Contributions are fully tax deductible under Cyprus law. All contributions can be deduced in their entirety from the supporter’s annual income tax. The Pharos Arts Foundation is a Cyprus registered charitable Pharos Arts Foundation registered with the Supreme Court of Cyprus by Deed No 91 deposited in the Supreme Court.

A Vision for the Future

Our vision is to expand the activities of the Pharos Arts Foundation by creating the Pharos Centre for Art, Culture and Dialogue in a beautiful setting of ancient olive groves and pine forest at Delikipos. The Centre will provide space for the visual and performing arts as well as a library and accommodation for visiting artists, writers, composers, musicians, and thinkers from all disciplines and backgrounds.
