Having studied at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover and as scholarship holders at the Escuela Superior Reina Sofía in Madrid, the Quartet forged its main artistic roots through intensive study with renowned professors, including Rainer Schmidt (Basel), Eberhard Feltz (Berlin), and Günter Pichler (Madrid). Further defining their artistry, the Quartet was selected to participate in prestigious academies in Aix-en-Provence and Verbier, where they received masterclasses from distinguished musicians such as Tabea Zimmermann, András Keller, Daniel Sepec, and Sir András Schiff.

Their commitment to contemporary music is particularly remarkable, leading to appearances at prominent venues such as the Arnold Schönberg Center in Vienna, the CNDM series in Madrid, and Nuit de la Création in Aix-en-Provence.

The Quartet Gerhard has been regularly broadcast by RNE (National Radio of Spain), NDR and SWR (Germany), BBC, and France Musique, among others. Together with pianist Judith Jáuregui, they recorded the piano quintets by Dvořák and Granados for Mezzo at the Lille Piano Festival. Their discography includes albums for Harmonia Mundi International, Seed Music, March Vivo, and Klarthe. Their album Portrait received the Critics’ Award for Best CD in 2016, while Ad Astra was named Best Classical Album 2024. The Quartet also appeared in the documentary Revolutionary Quartet. L’enigma Gerhard by Xavier Bosch and Josep Badell, which received the prestigious IN-EDIT 2023 Award.
