Concert: QUARTET GERHARD

Renowned for its a commitment to the essence of sound and its profound sense of musical integrity, Quartet Gerhard has swiftly established itself among the leading European ensembles of its generation. Founded in Catalonia in 2010, the Quartet has been distinguished with numerous prizes at international competitions and has appeared in some of the world’s foremost venues and festivals, including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam, and the Festival Radio France Montpellier. The Quartet is also recognised for its acclaimed discography on Harmonia Mundi International, Seed Music, and Klarthe, which has earned them Spain’s Best Classical Album Award (2024) and the Critics’ Award for Best CD (2016). For its Cyprus debut, this impressive quartet will perform a thrilling programme comprising Beethoven’s final string quartet, Ravel’s only masterpiece for the medium, and the rarely performed, thoroughly impressionistic and delightfully Spanish Oración del Torero string quartet by Joaquín Turina.
