Concert: Quatuor Magenta, David Haroutunian (violin) & Théo Fouchenneret (piano)

The month of April starts with an evening of magnificent chamber music featuring violinist David Haroutunian and pianist Théo Fouchenneret alongside the young, fabulous and all-female Quatuor Magenta. Haroutunian has performed as a soloist with renowned orchestras, including the National Philharmonic Orchestras of Armenia and Russia, the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, and the Strasbourg Philharmonic, and has appeared in important venues all over the world, including the Leipzig Gewandhaus, Carnegie Hall, and Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. Pianist Théo Fouchenneret – winner of the First Prize of the 2018 Geneva International Piano Competition – has appeared in the most prestigious concert venues, including Philharmonie de Paris, Salle Cortot, Salle Gaveau, and Sala Verdi in Milan. The multi-winning Quatuor Magenta, consisting of four remarkable female musicians, is ensemble-in-residence at ProQuartet – Centre Européen de Musique de Chambre, and it has been described by the newspaper La Croix as “a model of technical discipline, elegance and musical excellence” and has been praised by Diapason for its “remarkable balance, flexibility and spontaneity”.

The musicians will perform an impressive programme comprising Ernest Chausson’s Concerto for Violin, Piano & String Quartet in D major – a significant late-Romantic work, showcasing the composer’s innovative fusion of concerto and chamber music forms, and reflecting the era’s exploration of emotional depth and orchestral complexity; Schumann’s deeply personal and lyrical String Quartet in A minor Op.41, No.1; and Franck’s seminal Sonata for Violin and Piano in A major.
