CHRISTOS FOUNTOS

Cypriot pianist Christos Fountos is emerging as one of the most promising musicians of his generation. A prize-winner at the prestigious Busoni International Piano Competition, where he was awarded Third Prize and the Chamber Music Prize, he has already established a strong presence both as a soloist and chamber musician.

Fountos made his concerto debut at the age of 16 with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra and has since performed an extensive concerto repertoire, including all four Rachmaninoff Concertos and the Paganini Rhapsody, as well as concertos by Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Beethoven and Ravel, with orchestras in the United Kingdom, Italy and Cyprus.

A committed chamber musician, he is the pianist of the Waldstein Piano Trio, with which he has appeared at leading venues including Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, Musikverein Vienna, Mozarteum Salzburg and Beethoven-Haus Bonn, and has received multiple international prizes, including First Prize at the Vienna International Music Competition, First Prize at the Manhattan International Music Competition, and top prizes at the Cavatina Intercollegiate Chamber Music Competition at Wigmore Hall.

Fountos studied at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London on a full scholarship, graduating with top honours and multiple awards for excellence. He is a recipient of the Leventis Foundation Scholarship and now serves on the faculty of Trinity Laban.
