David Dyakov

The Bulgarian guitarist David Dyakov is one of the most prominent artists of his generation. He has won more than 20 international guitar competitions, including Forum Guitar Wien in Austria, Gorizia International Guitar Competition in Italy, Koblenz International Guitar Competition, Rago Competition, and the Aachener Gitarrenpreis in Germany, International Guitar Competition in Deajong, South Korea, Veria International Guitar Competition in Greece. David has performed recitals and as a soloist with orchestras throughout Europe, the USA, and in China, where he has also taught masterclasses at the Peking Central Conservatory, Tianjin Conservatory of Music, and others. David’s first solo CD, Il Diabolico, on the KSG Exaudio label, featuring works by Bach and Paganini, has garnered effusive critical acclaim. Amongst his accolades, is the title ”Musician of the Year 2012” by Classic FM, one of the most important radio stations in Bulgaria.

Born in 1994 in Belgium, David Dyakov began guitar lessons at the age of eight. At the age of eleven, he was accepted to the New Bulgarian University Sofia, where he began his undergraduate studies under Dimitar Doichinov, and in the same year, he performed Giuliani’s Concerto Op.30 with the Orpheus-Orchestra. In the following three years, Dyakov gave more than 40 concerts as a soloist with different orchestras, including the Sofia Philharmonie and Athens Philharmonic Orchestra. Dyakov continued his studies at the Bulgarian National Music School in Sofia with Stolina Dobreva, and in 2010 he moved to Germany to study with Hubert Käppel at the Koblenz International Guitar Academy, and subsequently at the Music University, Cologne.
