One of Ireland’s most celebrated musicians and significant musical ambassadors, Finghin Collins
came to international prominence after winning First Prize at the Clara Haskil Competition in 1999. He
has since performed in recital and with major orchestras across Europe and the United States, as well
as in the Far East and Australia.
Over the past two decades, Collins has developed a close association with Claves Records, with
recordings that have received wide critical acclaim, including Gramophone’s Editor’s Choice. His
discography spans Schumann, Mozart, Chopin and Stanford, and includes collaborations with the
RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and leading chamber musicians. Recent releases include The
Bright Day is Done (2022) and Hommage à Pleyel (2025).
Alongside his solo career, Collins is an active chamber musician and continues to perform extensively
internationally, with engagements across Europe, Asia and beyond. A particular focus of his recent
work has been the music of Charles V. Stanford, including performances and recordings for SOMM
Recordings marking the composer’s centenary. Collins plays a central role in Ireland’s musical life. He
is Artistic Director of Music for Galway and founding Artistic Director of the New Ross Piano Festival,
and was appointed Artistic Director of the Dublin International Piano Competition in 2023. In 2017, he
was awarded an honorary Doctor of Music degree by the National University of Ireland.
