Cellist Gal Nyska made his debut as a soloist with the Juilliard Orchestra in Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center under the baton of Dennis Russel Davies. As a chamber musician he has won several important competitions, among them the Coleman and Fischoff competitions, two of the most important chamber music competitions in the USA, and of the Cello Prize and Audience Prize in the 2009 America-Israel Cultural Foundation’s Aviv Competitions.
Nyska appeared for concerts and recitals at the Grande Salle des Invalides in Paris; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Merkin Hall, Alice Tully Hall, the 92nd Street Y in New York, and Kennedy Center in Washington; the Jordan Hall in Boston, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, the Jerusalem Music Center, Henry Crown Theatre, amongst others. As a soloist, he performed with the Las Vegas, North Carolina, Bangor, Raleigh, Durham symphony orchestras, among others. He has collaborated with renowned artists such as Sergio Azzolini, Ilan Gronich, Shmuel Asheknasi, Pamela Frank, Charles Neidich, and Atar Arad.
Gal Nyska began his formal cello studies under Ludmila Stark in Israel, and subsequently in North Carolina under Leonid Zilper. He completed his studies at the Juilliard School in New York under Professor Joel Krosnick, later becoming his teaching assistant. He received additional artistic impulses in masterclasses with renowned cellists such as Yo Yo Ma, Steven Isserlis, Lynn Harrell, Ralph Kirshbaum, Bernard Greenhouse, David Geringas, Frans Helmerson, and Janos starker, and he was awarded the Special Prize of the Harvard University’s musical association.
Currently a member of the Personata Quartet, Gal is also a dedicated teacher, having taught at the Lucy Moses School in Manhattan, the “Sadna” Conservatory in Jerusalem, coaching the cello sections at the Buchmann-Mehta School and the Jerusalem Academy of Music, coaching chamber music at the Israeli Conservatory of Music in Tel Aviv, presenting master-classes in Israel and abroad, and teaching privately. He held the position of associate Principal Cellist at the Neubrandenburg Philharmonie in Germany for two years, and from 2017 to 2020, he was the Principal Cellist of the Israel Philharmonic.

Μέλος του Κουαρτέτου Personata, ο Gal είναι παράλληλα ένας αφοσιωμένος καθηγητής που έχει διδάξει στη Σχολή Λούσι Μόουζες του Μανχάταν και στο Κονσερβατόριο Sadna της Ιερουσαλήμ, εκπαιδεύει το τμήμα βιολοντσέλων στη Σχολή Μπούχμαν-Μέτα και στην Ακαδημία Μουσικής της Ιερουσαλήμ, διδάσκει μουσική δωματίου στο Κονσερβατόριο του Τελ Αβίβ, και παρουσιάζει εργαστήρια μουσικής σε Ισραήλ και εξωτερικό. Κατείχε τη θέση του Υποκορυφαίου Τσελίστα στη Φιλαρμονική του Νόιμπραντεμβουργκ στη Γερμανία για δύο χρόνια, και από το 2017 έως το 2020 ήταν ο Κορυφαίος Τσελίστας της Φιλαρμονικής του Ισραήλ.
