Guido Sant’Anna

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Guido Sant’Anna began studying the violin at the age of 5, with the help of his family, and later under the guidance of Marcia Fukuda Uhleman. At the age of 7, he made his debut as a soloist, performing Bach’s Violin Concerto in A minor with the Orquestra de Camara de Ilhabela under the baton of Maestro Julio Medaglia. He subsequently received financial aid from a group of friends to continue his violin studies under Professor Elisa Fukuda, and he received a scholarship from Fundagao Magda Tagliaferro and Cultura Artistica to expand his studies and concert appearances in Brazil and abroad. In 2015, the young virtuoso earned a coveted spot in Brazil’s Graded Scholar Program, a prestigious scholarship for exceptionally gifted Brazilian students.

In 2018, at the age of 12, Guido was the first Brazilian to ever be selected to participate in the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition, in which he became a finalist among 300 competitors, and winner of the Audience Prize and the Chamber Music Award. His international career took off thereafter, and with a loan of an Iorio 1833 violin by the Caris Foundation, he made appearances all over the world, including London, Gstaad, Madrid, Dubai, New York and Moscow, in festivals such as the Abu Dhabi Festival, AMIS Festival, and the prestigious Perlman Music Program. In 2021, Guido won the First Prize in the Jovens Solistas da Osesp Competition and the First Prize at the Astana Violin Competition in Kazakhstan. In September 2022, at the age of just 17, Guido Sant’Anna won the First Prize in the prestigious Fritz Kreisler International Violin Competition in Vienna, having enchanted the audience and the jury with his moving rendition of Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D minor. Recent and current engagements include his debut with Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen in Brahms’ Violin Concerto, a recording contract with NAXOS, an Asian tour, and his much-anticipated debut with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Guido currently plays on a Jean Battiste Vuillaume (1798-1875) violin, kindly provided by Luthier Marcel Richters.
