Mehboob Nadeem is acknowledged as one of the most accomplished and charismatic sitar players of the present generation. Born into an illustrious family of traditional musicians of the Agra Gharana, he is the grandson of the legendary Ustad Vilayat Hussain Khan (Pranpiya) and Gayan Samrat Ustad Azmat Hussain Khan (Dilrang).
Mehboob was initiated in the art of music at a very young age by his father, and he began his sitar training under the guidance of his uncle. Under the devoted teaching of his Guru and mentor, the world-renowned sitar maestro Pandit Arvind Parikh, Mehboob has now excelled the techniques and style he had inherited from his legendary family. In all aspects of his sitar recitals, his depth of knowledge and authenticity of expression is flawless. He possesses a keen, aesthetic sense and a matured ability in the development and rendering of a raga.
Mehboob’s performances are truly inspiring, and they have enthralled audiences in India and abroad, in venues such as the National Centre for Performing Arts and the Nehru Centre in India, the South Bank in London, the Royal Albert Hall and the Liverpool Philharmonic.
