Pavlos Antoniadis is a pianist, musicologist, and creative technologist, currently Associate Professor of Music Communication and Technology at the University of Ioannina, Greece and a collaborator of the team interaction-son-musique-mouvement at IRCAM, Paris since 2014.
He has performed in Europe, North & South America, and Asia with the new music ensembles Work in Progress-Berlin, Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin, Phorminx, ERGON, Accroche Note, as well as a soloist with the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra. He has recorded forMode(2015 German Recording Critics Award / Deutscheschallplattenkritikspreis) Wergo and Diatribe records. As a soloist, Antoniadis has worked with composers such as Mark Andre, Helmut Lachenmann, Brian Ferneyhough, Wolfgang Rihm, Tristan Murail, Richard Barrett, Walter Zimmermann, Wieland Hoban, and has premiered solo piano works by James Erber, Nicolas Tzortzis, Andrew R. Noble, Luis Antunes Pena, Dominik Karski, Laurentiu Beldean, Lula Romero, Uday Krishnakumar, Irene Galindo Quero, Frank Cox, Michael Edward Edgerton among others. His programming features the most complex contemporary works, extremes of physicality, live electronics, multimedia, sensors, virtual reality, and musical theatre, often in eclectic dialogue with ancient repertoire from Cabezón to Bartók. He is also active in free improvisation, collaborating with Panos Ghikas or with the Improtech community and notably Mikhail Malt (IRCAM) for AI-assisted improv, and has collaborated with the physical theatre group Zero Point(Athens). He studied the piano with Chryssi Partheniade, Ian Pace, Geoffrey Douglas Madge and Aleck Karis. In ensemble and chamber music performance, he has followed the seminars of Ensemble Modern and Klangforum Wien.
Pavlos Antoniadis holds a prize-winning PhD in musicology from the University of Strasbourg in co-direction with the IRCAM, an MA in piano performance from the University of California, San Diego on a Fulbright Scholarship, and an MA in music studies from the University of Athens. He has conducted post-doctoral research at EUR-ArTeC, Université Paris 8 and at the Technische Universität Berlin – Audiokommunikation as a Humboldt Stiftung Fellow. His research interests include embodied cognition, complexity, embodiment, multimodality, sensor-based interactive technologies, artificial intelligence and biopolitics, with a focus on technology-enhanced learning and performance for musics of the 20th and 21st centuries. He is the author of multiple publications, including two monographs from Wolke Verlag and EUR-ArTeC and a collective volume on the music of Anestis Logothetis, and has given over 60 lecture-performances around the world.
Ο Παύλος Αντωνιάδης είναι πιανίστας, μουσικολόγος και δημιουργικός τεχνολόγος, επί του παρόντος αναπληρωτής καθηγητής Μουσικής Επικοινωνίας και Τεχνολογίας στο Πανεπιστήμιο Ιωαννίνων, και από το 2014, συνεργάτης της ομάδας διάδραση-ήχος-μουσική-κίνηση στο IRCAM στο Παρίσι.
Έχει εμφανισθεί σε Ευρώπη, Βόρεια και Νότια Αμερική, και Ασία με τα σύνολα νέας μουσικής Work in Progress-Berlin, Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin, Phorminx, ERGON, Accroche Note, καθώς και ως σολίστ με την Κρατική Ορχήστρα Θεσσαλονίκης. Δραστηριοποιείται επίσης στον ελεύθερο αυτοσχεδιασμό, συνεργαζόμενος με τον Πάνο Γκίκα ή με την κοινότητα Improtech και κυρίως με τον Mikhail Malt (IRCAM) για τον αυτοσχεδιασμό με τεχνητή νοημοσύνη, ενώ έχει συνεργαστεί με την ομάδα σωματικού θεάτρου Zero Point (Αθήνα). Σπούδασε πιάνο με τους Χρυσή Παρθενιάδη, Ian Pace, Geoffrey Douglas Madge και Aleck Karis. Στην εκτέλεση συνόλων και μουσικής δωματίου, έχει παρακολουθήσει τα σεμινάρια των Ensemble Modern και Klangforum Wien. Ο Παύλος Αντωνιάδης είναι κάτοχος βραβευμένου διδακτορικού στη μουσικολογία από το Πανεπιστήμιο του Στρασβούργου σε συνεργασία με το IRCAM, μεταπτυχιακού διπλώματος στην εκτέλεση πιάνου από το Πανεπιστήμιο της Καλιφόρνιας στο Σαν Ντιέγκο με υποτροφία Fulbright, και πτυχίου στις μουσικές σπουδές από το Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών. Έχει πραγματοποιήσει μεταδιδακτορική έρευνα στο EUR-ArTeC, Université Paris 8 και στο Technische Universität Berlin – Audiokommunikation ως υπότροφος του Humboldt Stiftung. Τα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα περιλαμβάνουν την ενσώματη νόηση, την πολυπλοκότητα, την πολυτροπικότητα, τις διαδραστικές τεχνολογίες που βασίζονται σε αισθητήρες, την τεχνητή νοημοσύνη και τη βιοπολιτική, με έμφαση στην τεχνολογικά υποβοηθούμενο μάθηση και την ερμηνεία μουσικών έργων του 20ού και 21ου αιώνα. Είναι συγγραφέας πολλών δημοσιεύσεων, μεταξύ των οποίων δύο μονογραφίες από το Wolke Verlag και το EUR-ArTeC και ένας συλλογικός τόμος για τη μουσική του Ανέστη Λογοθέτη, και έχει δώσει πάνω από 60 διαλέξεις-περφόρμανς σε όλο τον κόσμο.
