Munich-based collaborative pianist, Mikhail Berlin, attended the Gnessin Music Lizeum in Moscow and completed further studies at the formerly-named, Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich, under the direction of Michael Leslie. He graduated with an Artistic Diploma from the University of Music and Theater in Munich. In 2005, he completed advanced training under the direction of Donald Sulzen, majoring in chamber music with a focus on art song accompaniment and participated in masterclasses with Prof. Rudolf Kehrer, Prof. Anatol Ugorski and Gérard Wyss.
At the International Stravinsky Piano Competition in Urbana Champaign, USA he was awarded the Sixth Prize as well as the Jury’s Special Prize for the best performance of Bach works. He also won First Prize at the International Piano Competition in Cincinnati / USA and subsequently performed at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. In 2004, Mikhail Berlin received a scholarship from the Richard Wagner Association in Munich and, since then, has given concerts in Russia, Japan, the USA, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Finland and Hungary. He is an experienced singer’s accompanist having accompanied the masterclasses of: KS Peter Schreier, KS Christa Ludwig, Prof. Krisztina Laki among many others. Since 2009, Mikhail Berlin works as a collaborative pianist at The University of Arts in Bremen. Since 2023, he is the Director of Music at the Wertinger Festspiele in Germany, supported by the Charlotte und Hermann Buhl Stiftung.

Ο Mikhail Berlin τιμήθηκε στον Διεθνή Διαγωνισμό Πιάνου Στραβίνσκι του Urbana Champaign των ΗΠΑ με το Έκτο Βραβείο καθώς και το Ειδικό Βραβείο της Κριτικής Επιτροπής για την καλύτερη ερμηνεία σε έργα του Μπαχ. Κέρδισε επίσης το Πρώτο Βραβείο στον Διεθνή Διαγωνισμό Πιάνου στο Σινσινάτι των ΗΠΑ, και εν συνεχεία εμφανίσθηκε στην Αίθουσα Βάιλ του Κάρνεγκι Χολ. Το 2004, ο Berlin έλαβε υποτροφία από τον Σύνδεσμο Ρίχαρντ Βάγκνερ στο Μόναχο και, έκτοτε έχει δώσει συναυλίες σε Ρωσία, Ιαπωνία, ΗΠΑ, Ηνωμένα Αραβικά Εμιράτα, Γερμανία, Αυστρία, Ελβετία, Ισπανία, Τσεχία, Τουρκία, Φινλανδία και Ουγγαρία. Είναι ένας έμπειρος συνοδός κλασσικών τραγουδιστών, έχοντας συνοδεύσει σε εργαστήρια καλλιτέχνες όπως KS Peter Schreier, KS Christa Ludwig, Krisztina Laki μεταξύ πολλών άλλων. Από το 2009, ο Mikhail Berlin εργάζεται ως συνεργαζόμενος πιανίστας στο Πανεπιστήμιο Τεχνών της Βρέμης. Από το 2023 είναι Μουσικός Διευθυντής στο Φεστιβάλ Βέρτινγκεν στη Γερμανία, το οποίο υποστηρίζεται από το Ίδρυμα Charlotte and Hermann Buhl.
