One of the most remarkable and distinctive pianists/composers of our times, Tigran Hamasyan has fascinated audiences worldwide with his groundbreaking fusion of jazz improvisation, rich folk elements from the music of his native Armenia, classical music, and progressive rock.

Born in Gyumri, Armenia, in 1987, his musical journey began in his childhood home, where he was exposed to a diverse array of musical influences leading him to start playing the piano at the age of three, performing live by the time he was eleven, and winning the Montreux Jazz Festival’s Piano Competition in 2003, at the age of 16! He subsequently released his debut album, and in 2005, he won the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition.

Nowadays, Tigran Hamasyan’s unparalleled pianism has elevated him to the top tier of jazz and world music expressionism. He appears regularly in the most prestigious venues and festivals across the globe, and boasts an impressive discography, which has received such important accolades as the Echo Jazz Award for International Piano Instrumentalist of the Year (2015), Victoire de la Musique (French Grammy) for World Music Album of the Year, Deutscher Jazzpreis International Category in Piano/Keyboards (2021). Tigran has been passionately praised by artists such as Herbie Hancock, Brad Mehldau and the late Chick Corea, while his large and dedicated following ranges from adventurous jazz aficionados to progressive hardcore metal listeners.
