
Violinist/violist Yura Lee is a multifaceted musician, both as a soloist and as a chamber musician, and one of the very few artists in the world who is equally virtuosic on both violin and viola. Her career spans a wide range of musical styles, from baroque to contemporary repertoire, and extends over more than three decades, taking her to leading venues across the globe. She has performed with major orchestras, including those of New York, Chicago, Baltimore, Cleveland, San Francisco and Los Angeles, and has appeared in recital at prestigious venues such as Wigmore Hall London, Musikverein Vienna, Mozarteum Salzburg, Palais des Beaux-Arts Brussels and Concertgebouw Amsterdam.
In 2013, she was the only musician to be awarded First Prize across four categories at the ARD Competition in Germany. She has also won top prizes at major international competitions, including the Violinwettbewerb Leopold Mozart (Augsburg), the Joseph Joachim Violinwettbewerb (Hannover), the Fritz Kreisler Violinwettbewerb (Vienna), the Premio Paganini (Genoa), and the Indianapolis Competition (USA).
Her recording Mozart in Paris, with Reinhard Goebel and the Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie, received the Diapason d’Or in France. As a chamber musician, Lee regularly appears at the world’s major festivals, including Seattle, Marlboro, Salzburg, Verbier, La Jolla and Caramoor. She is Professor at the University of Southern California, Thornton School of Music, where she holds the Alice and Eleonore Schoenfeld Endowed Chair.
